New tax will support Temple bioscience district; group submits budget, will hold public hearings

The Temple Health and Bioscience Economic Development District will file its preliminary budget with a tax rate of .02436 per $100 valuation, the board voted Wednesday.
The tax is projected to raise $880,573 based on a 98.5 percent collection rate.
Temple voters OK'd the Bioscience District levying a tax in a 2009 election. The district will collect its first tax revenue in January 2011.
