KILLEEN — Services for CSM Thurman Beavers (Ret), 64, of Killeen will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
Burial will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors.
Mr. Beavers died Tuesday, May 13, in a Temple hospital.
He was born Aug. 29, 1943, to Starling Jr. and Minnie Sutton Beavers in Alameda, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army for more than 34 years. His military awards include: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Army Good Conduct Medal (Ninth Award), Expert Infantryman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, Korea Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), Meritorious Service Medal (Third Oak Leaf Cluster), Combat Infantryman Badge, Overseas Service Bars (5), Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Achievement Medal (First Oak Leaf Cluster), Expert Badge with Pistol Component Bar, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Operation Just Cause), Legion of Merit and Army Commendation Medal (Fourth Oak Leaf Cluster). He was a member of the VFW Post No. 9191, the Rough Riders Horse Club and the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club.
Survivors include his wife, Chun Beavers of Killeen; a son, Thurman Beavers Jr. of Indiana; a daughter, Erica Beavers of Tulsa, Okla.; three step-daughters, Uvella L. Milton of Nolanville, Beverly K. Ecford of Las Vegas and Serita D. Taylor of Oklahoma; a brother, James Beavers of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Ora Thomas of Oklahoma; four step-brothers, George Beavers, Larry Beavers, Troy Beavers and Amos Beavers, all of California; a step-sister, Dorce Beavers of California; his mother of Oklahoma; three grandchildren; and ten step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
