Salado sustained the brunt of the damage caused by an early morning storm Wednesday that pulled shingles from area houses and knocked over trees.

At 11 a.m. no injuries or fatalities had been reported, said Dennis Baker, Bell County emergency management coordinator.

"We're pretty fortunate," Baker said. "My concern now is a repeat of the floods from last year because the ground is so saturated."

The gym at Salado High School was damaged in the storm and trees and limbs are down all over village.

Crews are working to restore power to about 8,000 customers in West Bell County and a total of 3,800 in Temple, Salado, Belton, Holland and Little River Academy.
