She was the director of Equal Business Opportunity in Jackson, Miss., where she was responsible for improving the economic well being and quality of life in communities.
Mrs. Gray began work last Monday.
According to Keep Temple Beautiful, she has worked extensively with non-profits and works to capitalize community development initiatives. She has also worked with the Mississippi Legislative Caucus.
She said she looks forward to working Temple.
“I plan to promote local partnerships to revitalize, and provide community education and instrumental programs in regard to our beautification goals,” she said.
Mrs. Gray said she plans to utilize the community’s strengths to help beautify the city.
“Rather than focusing on community deficits, my goal is to identify and mobilize positive attributes inherent in local government, businesses, voluntary associations and individuals in order to assist the city of Temple in its beautification efforts,” she said.
Mrs. Gray said she is an avid supporter of efforts that seek to strengthen and enhance cities.
She holds a degree in criminal justice from Jackson State University and has a background in economic, community and business development.
She moved to Fort Hood with her husband, Sgt. Kelvin Gray, and was elected as village mayor for one of the Fort Hood communities.
