Two times wasn’t enough.

Chris Rogers was again named the Woman of the Year for the Bell Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.

“I was very surprised to receive this honor for the third time, as there are so many deserving women in our organization,” Ms. Rogers said. “It is always a privilege to represent the Bell Chapter in any capacity, but especially as Woman of the Year.”

The ABWA is a business group with chapters all over the country. Its mission is to provide networking opportunities as well as personal and professional growth for women in business.

Ms. Rogers was Woman of the Year in 1992 and 2003 and has been with the ABWA Bell Chapter for 20 years, serving in every office at least once and as president for three terms. In her career, she has served the community for more than 30 years at Scott & White Health Plan.

Her friends and colleagues say Ms. Rogers is very deserving of the third-time honor.

“If a question about ABWA is asked, Chris is the one who has the answer,” said Jacquie Morgan, ABWA hospitality chairman. “We joined ABWA the same year, so I’ve had the privilege of seeing her learn and grow into a wonderful example of what a professional business woman is - a person who juggles home, family, work, church and friends.”

Mary Collier, a member of the ABWA hospitality committee, describes Ms. Rogers as a woman who takes charge.

“She’s the type of gal who knows how to get things done,” Ms. Collier said. “She sets a wonderful example for the next generation of business women to follow.”

Ms. Rogers’ duty as 2008 Woman of the Year is to represent the Bell Chapter at the National Convention in Kentucky in October 2008.

“I will do my best to live up to the belief my fellow sisters have in me and to represent them well at the national conference,” Ms. Rogers said. “I believe in ABWA and its mission.”

Ms. Rogers will be recognized at the Central Texas Area Council Woman of the Year Banquet on May 8. Other honorees include Donna Robertson, the Salado chapter’s Woman of the Year; and Linda Hutto, the honoree from the Globe Chapter of Killeen.
