“Both teams went in with good records,” Belton coach David Tidwell said. “They got three timely hits and we only got two hits total. You don’t win too many games when you aren’t getting the hits.”
The Tigers fell to 17-3-1 overall and 3-2 in District 13-5A play. Bryan improved to 16-2-1 and 4-0 in district.
Dillon Newman suffered his first lost of the year after allowing 10 hits without a walk.
“He pitched well, didn’t allow a walk,” Tidwell added. “But Bryan had the timely hits, including one with two outs. They did what they had to do to win. You have to score to win, and we didn’t do that.”
