Assisted living residents must find new home

At least 12 residents of Wildflower House, an assisted living apartment complex in Temple, will likely be forced to find new homes after the owners of the complex ended a contract with the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services for its community-based alternatives program.

The program, funded by Medicaid, provides cost-effective, home and community-based services to people 21 and older who qualify for nursing facility care, according to the state Web site.

Laurie Bebo, corporate executive officer of Assisted Living Concepts of Milwaukee - the owners of the Temple facility, said the company decided not to renew its contract with the state for the program, in part, for financial reasons.
