Rick Perry for 93 school districts to inspect the school grounds for debris and to cancel school if any was found. Bell, Falls, Coryell, Lampasas, Milam and Williamson were among the counties included. The counties extended as far north as the Oklahoma border. Area school officials said no debris that could be from the space shuttle was found during searches at each campus. Dr. Jim Boyle, Temple school superintendent, said maintenance workers checked roofs and grounds of district property and found no shuttle debris. Todd Overpeck, a school safety specialist with the Texas Education Agency Region 12 Service Center, said the center has received unconfirmed reports of debris on campuses in Kerens, Rice and Frost, all in Navarro County.
