By LARRY CAUSEY Several Temple police officers who are members of the Texas Army National Guard have been activated, said Lt. Lyn Salvany. The department will lose another officer Feb. 7, when a Temple cadet in the Police Academy at Central Texas College in Killeen reports for active duty after graduation. Even without the Guard call-up, January is a normal time for recruiting efforts by Senior Officer Hilton Clark, training coordinator for Temple police. He and Senior Officer Michael Wilcox and various city personnel briefed 30 potential recruits at a workshop in the municipal building on Thursday, Jan. 23. The applicants will take a civil service exam from 1:15 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 4 at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic and Convention Center. A physical fitness test will probably be given by Feb. 19, Wilcox said. by Larry Causey
