Area girls teams split in hoops playoffs

After four wins in five games on Monday, Tuesday's area girls playoff basketball brought a different story, as Central Texas' four playoff teams split their bi-district games.In Class 5A, Temple defeated Pflugerville Connally 43-38, but fellow District 13-5A squad Copperas Cove lost 45-37 to Round Rock McNeil at Georgetown's Southwestern University.In 4A, Killeen Shoemaker, won its first-ever playoff game, defeating Magnolia 43-29 at Cameron. The Lady Wolves (21-11) will next take on Beaumont Ozen in the area round.In Class 3A, Waco Connally defeated Cameron Yoe 68-46 at McLennan Community College in Waco.The Lady Yoe (15-14) led by three points at halftime and trailed 40-39 entering the fourth quarter, but were outscored 28-7 in the final frame.Meanwhile, a few area playoff games for later this week have not been determined yet. Troy and Groesbeck have not settled on a site for their Class 3A area-round tilt yet. School officials will be meeting today to settle on a date and site.In 4A, Belton won't know until this morning when it will play Silsbee (22-11), which defeated West Orange-Stark 55-51 in bi-district play on Tuesday.In Class A, Bartlett (19-11) will face Moulton (30-2) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in Bastrop.
