David S. Barnard, president and chief executive of National Bank, was elected to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.Barnard began serving his three-year term at the beginning of January.National Bank is a Gatesville-based regional community bank with facilities in Killeen, Hewitt, Copperas Cove and Lampasas.The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is one of 12 Federal Reserve Banks in the United States and has a nine-member board of directors.Three members represent commercial banks and six members represent the public, with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., appointing three of those members.Barnard is one of the directors who represent member banks.The board of directors' responsibilities include contributing to the formulation of monetary policy, commenting on major organizational changes, appraising management performance, reviewing officers' salaries and appointing both the bank's president, who is the chief executive officer, and the first vice president, who is the chief administrative officer.
Officials at the Olin E. Teague Veterans' Center announced Thursday the use of computer technology to digitally record images for X-rays, MRIs and CAT scans making the use of film for imaging a thing of the past.Officials said the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is the first hospital in Central Texas to totally implement filmless, digital imaging.The system allows multiple providers in different locations to look at the same image at the same time and consult with one another, said Dr. Rahul Gupta, staff radiologist at the hospital.Gupta said that in using film: | |
