TC's Sophomore Surge: Veteran team soaring, scoring in typical Leopards fashion

In junior college basketball, freshmen are freshmen. Sophomores, however, are more like seniors, and perhaps no team supports that theory better than the Temple College men's squad. Many of Coach Kirby Johnson's Leopards needed to mature physically, others emotionally, and some both between their freshman and sophomore years. All did, and the results of their collective maturation have been nothing short of remarkable. Despite a 99-90 loss at Hill College Wednesday that ended its 12-game winning streak, TC is 15-3 overall and 4-1 in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference entering today's 6 p.m. home battle against Cisco (11-6, 2-2). Leading the sophomore surge have been post Damon Bailey, shooting guard Bennie Tate, and wing Jermaine Green. By Greg Wille
