2007 Bell County Spelling Bee
The Temple Daily Telegram’s 76th Annual Bell County Spelling
Bee will be held on March 24 at the Mary Alice Marshal Performing
Arts Center at Temple College. There are over twenty area schools
that have indicated that they would like to participate
in the contest. Lake Belton Middle won first place last year. St.
Mary’s Catholic school took second and Troy Middle School
placed third. |
Teacher Workshop
This year’s Partners In Education workshop will be held on
September 15 at the Temple College Pavilion. Speakers for the workshop
include Newspaper In education professional Al Wilson, creator of
Pigskin Geography, March Mania, and Fastcar Geography, Dr. Sandy
Wanner, Professor of Special Education at UMHB, Mr. Noel Schnitz.
Director of the GED lab in Belton and Pattie Marek, Partners In
Education Coordinator for the Temple Daily Telegram. The cost of
the workshop is $20.00 and lunch will be catered. The deadline for

Golden Apple Awards
You may nominate a teacher who has inspired you to achieve your
goals by writing a letter to the Temple Daily Telegram. We would
like you to explain how this teacher had a positive impact on your
life. Tell us how they created a stimulating classroom and how they
motivated you to success. Five teachers will be selected from those
nominated. Each selected teacher will receive an engraved plaque,
a Certificate of Merit, and recognition at a reception on May 8
at the Telegram facility. Also, stories and photos will be run May
1-4 in the Telegram. Please mail letters of nomination to: Temple
