    • Scott and White Hospice is accepting applications for volunteers. People are needed to provide direct patient care via companionship and office help. For information, call Pat Jackson at Scott & White Hospice - West Campus at (254) 724-4090.
    • Scott & White needs volunteers at 2401 S. 31st St. in Temple. Volunteer duties include delivering newspapers, working information desks and refreshment kiosks, attending to family members in the ICU/Day Surgery waiting areas as well as working in the Gift Shop. Call Linda Roberson at (254) 724-2818.
    • RSVP is in need of volunteers to visit new mothers at Temple hospitals one day a week. The visit takes about an hour and a half, but volunteers may work as many hours as desired. Volunteers will enroll new mothers for their child’s immunizations. For information, call Linda Paulsen at RSVP office at (254) 773-0221.
    • Lighthouse Hospice needs volunteers to provide companionship to patients and administrative help in the office. For information, call Catherine Krenzke, volunteer coordinator, at (866) 678-0505. Her e-mail is Ckrenzke@lighthouse-hospice.com.

    • Texas Home Health Hospice needs volunteers who can give a few hours each week in companionship and support to area patients. Texas Home Health Hospice, a Medicare-certified hospice program, provides hospice services to patients with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, end-stage cardiac disease, COPD and end-stage Alzheimer’s.     • The Central Texas Area Agency on Aging is seeking volunteers for the Disability Resource Center’s Ombudsman Program. Through this program, volunteers will work with nursing facility residents in the Temple-Belton area to improve their quality of life and the quality of their care. No prior experience is required.     • The American Red Cross Heart of Texas Area Chapter is seeking volunteers to respond to local disasters and emergencies. Local disaster volunteers will be trained to respond to any and all types of emergencies that might occur in their local community. The training is free. The Heart of Texas Area Chapter serves the following counties: Anderson, Bell, Bosque, Brazos, Burleson, Coryell, Erath, Falls, Freestone, Hamilton, Hill, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone, Madison, McLennan, Robertson and Somerville.
